Semana del Libro. Primaria. Saint George and the Dragon.

NARRADOR:  Buenos días, damas y caballerosl

NARRATOR: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

NARRADOR: Vamos a interpretar la obra San Jorge y el Dragón y éstos son los actores y actrices......

NARRATOR: We are going to play Saint George and the Dragon and the actors and actresses are.......

NARRADOR: Princesa 1 .........  Princesa 2 ............ Reina ...............  Aldeanos....................  San Jorge y sus caballos..............  el Dragón ............ y los narradores.

NARRATOR: Princess 1 ............  Princess 2 ................ The Queen .............  The Villagers...........  Saint George and his horses ............  the Dragon............. and the narrators.

PRINCESA 1: - Mamá, quiero buscar a alguien que me guste.

PRINCESS 1: - Mum, I want a boyfriend.

REINA: - Hija, ¿no crees que eres demasiado joven?

QUEEN: - You are too young, aren´t you?

PRINCESA 1: - Mamá, que no soy tan pequeña como tú crees.

PRINCESS 1: - Mum, I am not so young.

PRINCESA 2: - Es verdad, tiene razón tu hija.

PRINCESS 2: - It is true, you are right.

NARRADOR: Así que siguieron hablando sobre con quién tendría que casarse la princesa.

NARRATOR: They went on talking and talking about the princess´wedding.

NARRADOR: Mientras ellas hablaban y hablaban llegó al pueblo un caballero.

NARRATOR: A knight came to the village.

SAN JORGE: - Perdonad que os haga una pregunta, según he oído hay un dragón que atemoriza a todos los habitantes de este pueblo.

SAINT GEORGE: - I have a question ....... Is there a dragon that scares all the villagers?

SAN JORGE: - Me gustaría ayudarles.

SAINT GEORGE: - I want to help yoy.

ALDEANO: - Y tú ..... cómo pretendes ayudarnos?

VILLAGER 1: - How can you help us?

ALDEANA: - Ese dragón es el más grande que jamás haya existido.

VILLAGER 2: - This is the biggest dragon that exists.

ALDEANO: - Cuentan a cientos los caballeros que lo han intentado pero ninguno ha sobrevivido.

VILLAGER 1: - People say that a hundred of knights did not survive.

ALDEANOS: ¿Serás tú quien acabe con él?

VILLAGERS: - Are you a superhero?

SAN JORGE: - Al menos lo voy a intentar.

SAINT GEORGE: - I will try it.

NARRADOR: Mientras, en el castillo, las princesas seguían discutiendo con la reina.

NARRATOR: While in the castle the princesses and the queen argued.

PRINCESA 1: - ¡¡ Pues yo me quiero casar!!

 PRINCESS 1: - I want to get married!!

REINA: - ¡¡No digas tonterías!!

QUEEN: - Don´t say silly things!!

PRINCESA 2: - Yo creo que tiene edad suficiente para casarse.

PRINCESS 2: - I think she is old enough.

REINA: - Estás tan mal de la cabeza como mi hija.

QUEEN: - You are crazy, crazy, mad, mad.

REINA: - ¡Anda! Id al bosque a que os de el aire en la cabeza.  Pero tened cuidado con el dragón.  No os alejéis demasiado.

QUEEN: - You both go to the forest to have some air.  Be careful with the dragon!!

NARRADOR: Las princesas se alejaron demasiado.

NARRATOR: - The princesses went for a walk very far away.

DRAGÓN: - Pues yo lo que quiero es almorzar...... ¡¡ Y me venís como anillo al dedo!!

DRAGON: - What I want is to have lunch and you both are a very nice snack.

NARRADOR: En ese momento San Jorge llegó al bosque y escuchó los gritos de las princesas.

NARRATOR: At that moment Saint George arrived at the forest and listened to the princesses.

PRINCESAS 1 Y 2: - ¡¡ Socorro!!  ¡¡Ayudadnos!!

PRINCESSES 1 & 2: - Help!!  Help us!!

SAN JORGE: - No tan rápido.  Si quieres almorzarte a las princesas, antes tendrás que tomarme a mí de aperitivo, ¡ y soy duro de roer!

SAINT GEORGE: - Not so fast, dragon!  If you want to lunch first you will have to eat me!!

DRAGÓN: - Tú eres más valiente que ninguno de los caballeros con los que he luchado, pero tampoco saldrás con vida para contarlo.

DRAGON: - You are the most valient and brave knight but you will die!!

PRINCESA 1: - ¿Has visto qué valiente es este caballero?  Si salimos de ésta espero que pida mi mano como recompensa.

PRINCESS 1: - Did you see what a brave knight?  I hope to get married with him.

NARRADOR: De la lucha salió victorioso y pidió la mano de la princesa a la reina, que se la concedió por su hazaña.

NARRATOR: The knight won the battle and he spoke with the queen.

ALDEANOS: ¡Hurra!  ¡Bravo!  ¡Viva San Jorge! .......

VILLAGERS: - Hooray!  Hooray! Long life to Saint George!

NARRADOR: Los aldeanos vitorearon su proeza y, hoy en día todavia recordamos a San Jorge como el más valiente de los caballeros.

NARRATOR: The villagers said and we remind Saint George as the braviest knight in the World.

ALDEANOS: - ¡Viva San Jorge!  ¡Viva!

VILLAGERS: Hooray!  Hooray!

SAN JORGE Y EL DRAGÓN

En cierta ocasión llegó San Jorge a una ciudad llamada Silca, en la provincia de Libia.  Cerca de la población había un lago tan grande que parecía un mar donde se ocultaba un dragón.  El monstruo despedía un terrible hedor que infestaba todos los alrededores.  Había que alimentarlo par que no fuese a reclamar su comida a la ciudad.

Llegó un momento que no hubo más alimento par el dragón que los propios habitantes de Silca, quienes debían sortearse el sacrificio.  Un día la mala suerte recayó en la hija del rey.  La princesa, resignada a su destino, se disponía ya a cumplir su terrible deber, cuando apareció San Jorge.

La doncella le contó la terrorífica historia y el santo caballero se enfrentó al dragón al que doblegó y entregó prisionero y moribundo a la princesa para que lo condujera a la ciudad.

Cuando todos los habitantes de Silca se hubieron convertido, San Jorge mató al dragón.
